Diu to Somnath Taxi — Island to Temple
120 km, about 2.5 hours. So you are sitting on Diu beach, watching sunset, and thinking — tomorrow morning I want to see Somnath temple. Done. We pick you up at 6 AM, drive along the coast through Junagadh, and you reach Somnath by 8:30. The road after Junagadh gets narrow near Talala, but driver knows the shortcuts. Sedan Rs 2,200, Innova Rs 3,000. If you want same-day return, leave Diu at 5 AM, darshan by 8, back in Diu by 3 PM. Tight but doable. Or stay overnight in Somnath — the temple at night with waves crashing is something else.
Diu to Sasan Gir — Beach Meets Jungle
100 km, 2 hours. People think Diu and Gir are far apart. They are not. After your beach morning, drive to Gir and catch afternoon safari. Or reverse — morning safari in Gir, afternoon on Diu beach. We do this combo trips all the time. Road is decent, flat, passes through Junagadh. One stretch near Vanthali gets rough during monsoon — June to September, carry motion sickness tablets just in case. Sedan Rs 2,000, Innova Rs 2,800. And here is a tip — Gir afternoon safari is less crowded than morning. People think morning is the only time.
Diu to Dwarka — Coastal Pilgrimage Run
330 km, 6 hours. This is the long one. But honestly, the drive is beautiful. Coastal road from Diu to Porbandar, then inland to Dwarka. Open sky, sea breeze, zero traffic after Porbandar. We charge Rs 5,800 sedan, Rs 7,500 Innova. Start early, 5 AM. Reach Porbandar by 9, stop for breakfast, then Dwarka by noon. Visit Dwarkadhish temple, Rukmini temple, Bet Dwarka if you have time. Return next day or continue to Somnath. This is part of the Gujarat pilgrim triangle — Dwarka, Somnath, Gir.
Diu to Junagadh — Forts, Tombs and Hills
110 km, 2.5 hours. Junagadh is Diu neighbor but feels like a different world. From island beaches to 2,300 year old fort on a hill. Uparkot Fort is the main thing — climb up, view covers whole city. But honestly, the climb is tiring. Carry water. Mahabat Maqbara looks royal from outside, inside small. Girnar ropeway is the highlight — one of highest in India. Takes you halfway up 10,000 steps. Rs 2,000 sedan, Rs 2,800 Innova. Round trip same day. Driver waits.
Diu to Rajkot — Airport and City Transfer
230 km, 4.5 hours. Rajkot has the nearest major airport to Diu. So if you are flying in or out, this route matters. We do airport transfers daily. Flight lands, driver waiting. Or from Diu airport to Rajkot airport — both small airports, but Rajkot connects to Delhi, Mumbai. Highway after Junagadh is fast — divided road. Some speed cameras near Gondal, driver slows down. Diu to Ahmedabad — The Long One
430 km, 7.5 hours. Longest popular route from Diu. Ahmedabad is Gujarat capital, so business trips, family visits, medical trips — we get all kinds. Highway after Rajkot is really fast. Ahmedabad-Rajkot expressway, 120 km in 1.5 hours. But Diu to Rajkot is slower, 4.5 hours. Break journey at Rajkot, eat something. Good food courts on highway. Sedan Rs 6,500, Innova Rs 8,500, Tempo Traveller Rs 13,000. For this distance, Innova minimum. Sedan gets uncomfortable after 5 hours. Carry water, snacks. Driver will suggest best stops.
Diu to Porbandar — Heritage and Sea
200 km, 4 hours. Coastal drive from Diu to Porbandar is one of the best in Gujarat. Sea on one side, road on other. Last 50 km especially scenic. Porbandar is where Gandhi was born. Kirti Mandir is small but powerful — his birthplace, simple house. Takes 30 minutes. Sudama Temple nearby, beautifully carved. Rs 3,200 sedan, Rs 4,200 SUV. Leave Diu early — Porbandar gets windy by afternoon. And if you are combining with Somnath, Porbandar is on the way. Driver knows the route.
Diu to Jamnagar — Lake Palace and Marine Life
300 km, 5.5 hours. Jamnagar is far from Diu but worth it. Lakhota Palace sitting in middle of lake — looks like fairy tale. Bala Hanuman Temple, chanting since 1964 — Guinness Record. Marine National Park if you like coral reefs, but low tide timing matters. Driver will check. Rs 5,000 sedan, Rs 6,800 Innova. This is not a day trip from Diu. Stay overnight in Jamnagar. Explore next day.
Diu to Veraval — Fishing Port Transfer
80 km, 1.5 hours. Veraval has railway connections. So if you are heading to Diu by train, this is where you get picked up. Or going from Diu to catch a train. Rs 1,500 sedan, Rs 2,000 SUV. Short drive, flat road. Driver will be at station with your name. And Veraval fish market — early morning, really colorful. Worth seeing if you have time before your train.
