We pick you up at 5 AM from Gir, drive through rural Gujarat, and you reach Somnath with full day to explore. The road is single lane after Talala, so leave early to avoid truck traffic. Sedan costs Rs 1,500, Innova Rs 2,200. And if you want to combine Gir safari morning plus Somnath evening, we can do that in one day. Driver knows the exact timing — safari at 6:30 AM, back by 9, drive to Somnath, reach by 11. Full day, two experiences. Our driver Rameshbhai has done this 200 times. He will not get lost.
Sasan Gir to Diu — Beach After the Jungle
100 km, about 2 hours. So after seeing lions in the morning, you can have your feet in Diu beach by afternoon. The route goes through Junagadh, flat road, decent condition. Actually, there is a small stretch near Vanthali that gets bumpy during monsoon. Rest of the year, smooth ride. Diu is perfect for people who want quiet beach time — not like Goa with loud music everywhere. Nagoa Beach is our recommendation. Clean sand, calm water, and you will find a shack selling fresh fish curry. Round trip from Gir is possible in one day but honestly, stay overnight in Diu. The sunset from Diu Fort is worth it. Sasan Gir to Junagadh — History and Hills
Only 60 km, 1.5 hours. Junagadh is basically Gir neighbor. Most people visiting Gir also do Junagadh in the same trip. Uparkot Fort is the main thing — 2,300 years old, sits on a hill, and the view from top covers entire city. But fair warning, the climb is steep. Not for people with knee problems. Mahabat Maqbara looks incredible in photos but inside is quite small. 15 minutes and you are done. Girnar ropeway is the real deal — one of highest in Asia. Takes you halfway up 10,000 steps. We charge Rs 1,200 sedan, Rs 1,800 SUV. Round trip same day. Driver waits at each spot.
Sasan Gir to Rajkot — Gateway to Gujarat
160 km, 3 hours on the highway. Rajkot is the nearest big city with airport, so many of our bookings are airport transfers from Gir. Flight landing at Rajkot, need to reach Gir for next morning safari. We do this route daily. Highway is good — divided road, proper lanes. Some speed cameras near Junagadh, so driver will slow down there. Sedan Rs 2,800, Innova Rs 4,000. For airport pickups we track your flight timing. If flight is delayed, driver adjusts. That is standard for us, not extra service. And Rajkot to Gir at night — totally fine. Highway is well-lit until Junagadh, then rural road for 60 km. Driver knows every curve.
Sasan Gir to Dwarka — Pilgrimage Circuit
280 km, 5 hours. This is part of the classic Saurashtra triangle — Gir, Somnath, Dwarka. Most tourists do all three. The route goes through Somnath, so you can stop for darshan. Road after Porbandar gets scenic — coastal views, open sky. But the drive is long, so Innova is better than sedan for comfort. We charge Rs 4,800 sedan, Rs 6,500 Innova. Two day trip recommended — Gir to Somnath day 1, Somnath to Dwarka day 2. Stay overnight at Dwarka, visit temple next morning. We arrange hotel too if you want. Our driver knows good budget hotels near temple. Not the overpriced ones tourist agencies push.
Sasan Gir to Ahmedabad — The Big City Run
360 km, 6.5 hours. Longest popular route from Gir. Ahmedabad is Gujarat capital, so we get all kinds of bookings — medical trips, business, family visits. The highway after Rajkot is really fast — Ahmedabad-Rajkot expressway, smooth road. But the stretch from Gir to Rajkot is slower, 2.5 hours. We suggest breaking journey at Rajkot for lunch. Good food courts on highway. Sedan Rs 5,200, Innova Rs 7,000, Tempo Traveller Rs 11,000 for 12 people. For this distance, Innova is minimum I would recommend. Sedan gets uncomfortable after 4 hours. Also, carry water and snacks. Highway food is okay but not great everywhere. Driver will suggest best stops.
Sasan Gir to Porbandar — Coastal Heritage Route
160 km, 3 hours. Porbandar is where Gandhi was born. The drive from Gir goes through Junagadh and then coastal road. Pretty drive, especially the last 50 km along the sea. Kirti Mandir is small but powerful — Gandhi ji birthplace, simple house with his belongings. Takes 30 minutes. Sudama Temple nearby is beautifully carved, worth a visit. We charge Rs 2,800 sedan, Rs 3,800 SUV. One thing — Porbandar gets really windy by afternoon. So leave Gir early. Morning drive is better, and you get to see Porbandar before it gets too hot and windy. Driver will suggest the route through Junagadh, it is faster than the direct road.
Sasan Gir to Jamnagar — The Long Scenic One
240 km, 4.5 hours. Jamnagar is famous for Lakhota Palace sitting in middle of a lake. Looks like a fairy tale. And the Bala Hanuman Temple where chanting has been going on since 1964 — Guinness Record. The road from Gir to Jamnagar goes through some tribal areas, interesting landscape. But this is a long drive, so plan accordingly. We suggest leaving early morning. Sedan Rs 4,000, Innova Rs 5,500. Jamnagar also has Marine National Park if you like coral reefs and marine life. Low tide timing matters for that — driver will check and plan accordingly. This is not a one-day trip from Gir. Stay overnight in Jamnagar, explore next day.
Sasan Gir to Veraval — Quick Station Transfer
Just 50 km, about 1 hour. Veraval has the nearest railway station to Gir. So if you are arriving by train, this is where you need a cab. We charge Rs 800 for this. Yes, just Rs 800. Station pickup with name board, straight to your hotel in Gir. Or reverse — from Gir to Veraval station. Early morning trains are common because tourists want to reach Gir for safari. We know all train timings. Just share your train number and we track it. Driver will be at platform with your name. And Veraval is also a fishing port — if you have time, early morning fish market is worth seeing. Really colorful, really loud.
